Plank to Plunk Down Challenge for MitoCanada – January 2nd to January 30th, 2012

Join us – get fit – work that core – support MitoCanada!

The Plank to Plunk Down for MitoCanada Challenge is a core strength and fitness challenge for 30 days over January, 2012.  Participants agree to complete 2 side planks and a front plank everyday for a minimum of 30 seconds each.  You will donate .25 per plank completed to MitoCanada (.75/day or $22.50 for the entire Challenge).

This Challenge is an initiative of the Ottawa based Triathlon Training Buddies, a small Facebook group of triathlon friends who wanted to work on their core strength early this season. The organizer of the event is Brenda Ross, a seasoned triathlete and good friend of Julie Drury whose daughter Kate suffers from a rare form of mitochondrial disease. To learn more about Kate you can visit www.caringbridge.org/visit/katedrury

What is amazing about Kate is that she has gone 4 years without a diagnosis. Her diagnosis of mitochondrial disease is recent – though it was always suspected. Kate is one of nine children in the world with this form of mitochondrial disease. The type she has is yet to be defined and described in the medical literature. It has no know treatment and no known cure.
