Mitochondrial Disease is poorly understood, difficult to diagnose, and affects approximately 1 in 4,000 people in Canada. There is emerging technologies and understanding in the world of genetics that show promise in being able to more effectively diagnose genetic mutations that result in mitochondrial disease.
The event will consist several presentations from the genetic basics of mitochondrial disease, diagnosis and new treatments and technology to help those affected. A short presentation will also be given on the new MitoCanada Charity and how it is helping people affected by the disease.
